Licorice Seeds - American Licorice
(Glycyrrhiza lepidota) Perennial. Zones 3 - 10.
Fabaceae (Pea) Family. Native range—BC to Ontario. Thrives in wet conditions, drought intolerant. Requires deep, well worked soil. Its white flowers are often removed to force plant energy into their edible roots—similar in flavour to sweet potatoes!

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
SEED PRETREATMENT: Seeds require scarification—gently rub the seed surface with fine sandpaper. Then soak seeds for 24 hours, start with warm tap water.
STRATIFICATION: Seeds don’t require stratification.
SEEDING: Sow soaked seeds 1/4” deep. Prefers soil temperatures of 15-20°C for germination. Water evenly and regularly.
GERMINATION: When all previously mentioned requirements are fulfilled, germination generally occurs in 45-60 days.
