Marshmallow plants can stand up to 4 feet tall, with beautiful white-rose flowers. In appearance, it's closely related to Hollyhocks, but Marshmallow plants have been used as a medicinal herb for millennia - especially their roots. This is a must for any medicinal garden patch.

Growing Marshmallow
Stratification: Sow seeds with small amount of moistened peat moss inside of a resealable plastic bag and place in the fridge for 4 weeks.
Timing: After 4 weeks cold, moist stratification, sow seeds indoors, cover seeds lightly and keep moist until germination, approx 6 weeks before last frost.
Seeding: Plant stratified seeds in good quality potting soil. Transplant once 3 inches tall.
Growing: Prefers full/partial sun, but can tolerate part shade. Fertile, well-drained soil.
Harvesting: Will flower in second year, requires a few years to establish roots large enough to make medicine. Flowers and leaves can be harvested throughout the summer.
