Chinese Red-Rooted Sage is highly valued in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), for its roots are often used to stimulate circulation, stabilize ones nerves and as an antistroke agent. Grown most often as an annual in cooler climates, it grows quickly, setting blooms by mid-summer through autumn. Hummingbirds and butterflies alike love their blooms, however deer to not, which is a welcomed relief for those with many hungry deer around. Chinese Red-Rooted Sage prefers to be grown in well-draining soil in full sun, to partial shade.
