Pole Bean Seeds (Dry) - Turkey Craw Pole
(Phaseolus vulgaris) 80-100 days. Heirloom Pole Bean, early 1800s, Tennessee, USA.
We love when seeds come with a story!
The legend behind Turkey Craw is that it was actually found in the crop (craw to our neighbours in Tennessee) of a wild turkey.
This bird was caught and brought home by a hunter who is thought to have been an African American slave. Upon butchering the turkey, they found these bean seeds.
This pole bean needs support. Beans are 6 inches long and stringless. Superb for eating fresh or ripening for use as a soup bean.
Available in two sizes! One for the backyard gardener, the other for the homesteader.
