Long Red Florence Onions are an Italian heirloom from the 1800’s, saved over generations for both their beauty and flavour. They have elongated bulbs, a classic torpedo shape, that make them really easy to peel. At full maturity, they can be cured for short-term storage, but are best when used fresh. Long Red Florence Onions have a lovely rosy pink colour and mild, gentle flavour. They are a great choice raw in your Summer salads or stunning as pickled onions too. Growing them closer together will yield smaller bulbs, but also an earlier harvest time.
