Walnut Tree Seeds, Hardy Carpathian
(Juglans regia) Deciduous. Zones 5-8.
Carpathian Walnut is a majestic tree with an awe inspiring canopy! Also known as English Walnut, this tremendous tree will give your landscape the look of the English countryside. It can live up to 150 years and grow to 50-60 feet.
The nuts produced by this tree are the California or English walnuts commonly sold in grocery stores. Homegrown walnuts are even sweeter than the commercial ones, with a rich, smooth, butterscotch flavour. They are thin shelled, each encased in a smooth green husk, which makes them easy to extract.
It can take 5 years or so for a young Carpathian Walnut tree to bear fruit, but it is a wonderful producer and extremely cold hardy, tolerating incredibly harsh winter conditions. It does best in sandy loam or soil rich in humus.
Carpathian Walnut is self-fertile, so you can get fruit with just one, but adding another with increase your crop significantly.
The dark, fine-grained wood of the Persian Walnut tree is valued highly for furniture, cabinetry, paneling or veneer, and smaller pieces such as turned wooden bowls.
**60-80% germination** Persian Walnut seed requires 90-120 days cold moist stratification.
You will be 100% satisfied with the quality of our Persian Walnut seeds, especially if grown in an organic garden.
