Elecampane is a widely loved medicinal plant, also known as Wild Sunflower and Horseheal, its roots have been used for centuries to relieve a long list of ailments. Plants can grow 5-10 feet tall, with golden sunshine yellow flowers that will bloom their second season. Roots are best harvested in the Fall of their second or third season, they can become woody on older plants. Elecampane is also an excellent dye plant, its roots produce a blue colored dye, while its flowers produce a yellow/orange colored dye. A strong plant ally, known for helping to boost one’s immune system and soothe digestion.
