Amy's Sugar Gem - Cherry Tomato Seeds
(Solanum lycopersicum) Indeterminate. 71 days to maturity and Frost resistant!
Amy’s Sugar Gem had us marveling in the later part of the season as it was noticeably not affected by the seasons first frosts! After the first three frosts of the year finished the other tomatoes in in the garden, Amy’s Sugar Gem continued on strong with near perfect undamaged fruit and leaves.
This gem of a tomato plant grows to about 6 feet. The quality of the fruit was top-notch; slightly bigger than a golf ball, it felt dense and full of flavour. The taste was sweet and well-balanced. Great for snacking or a salad. The small core and thick flesh also made it good for sauces and salsas.
Developed by Jeff McCormack. Heirloom Red Cherry was bred with Tappy's Finest. Amy's Sugar Gem is named in appreciation of Amy Hereford whose grandmother "Tappy" introduced Jeff to this heirloom tomato in 1982. 🤍
