Apple Seeds - Antonovka

(Malus pumila 'Antonovka') Can be hardy up to Zone 1!

This wonderful apple cultivar can withstand some of the coldest north American winters, and is popular as a root stock for grafting other cultivars. Sometimes called 'The People's Apple';  the trees grow true from seed and produce a low sugar, late fruiting apple that is great for pies and cider!

This is a great rootstock apple tree with fruit that is ideal for cooking.

*Many modern apple varieties do not grow true-to-type from seed, but Antonovka Apples DO! They are an old, open pollinated variety that will produce the same kind of apple from which the seeds came.

*Apple seeds are among the first to germinate in the spring, often while soil temperatures are less than 4.5 °C, and the seedlings are generally hardy with respect to spring frost.
