(Stewartia psedocamella) Perennial. Zones 5 - 8.
Theaceae (Tea) Family. Native range—Japan. Trees can grow 20-40 feet tall and up to 30 feet wide. Its white flowers with deep yellow centers bloom in July. Prefers light shade. Leaves change from green to red in the Fall. Good for bonsai.

SEED PRETREATMENT: Soak seeds in warm water for 48 hours, replace water after 24 hours. Mix seeds with moist soil 4x seed volume. Place in a plastic bag, covered tray/cells or container.
STRATIFICATION: Start 120 days warm/moist (20°C), the top of your fridge is a good spot for this, check periodically for mold. Next, 90 days cold/moist (5°C), in your fridge is a good spot for this. Inspect periodically for even moisture.
POST-STRATIFICATION: Sow stratified seeds 1/8” deep. Soil temperature around 15°C is ideal. Water evenly and regularly.
GERMINATION: Naturally challenging, generally occurs in 90 days, but seeds may only germinate the following Spring.
