Maple Tree Seeds - Green Cascade
(Acer japonicum) Perennial. Zones 5 - 7.
Native to E. Asia. This beautiful Japanese weeping maple can grow 10-20 feet tall and up to 25 feet wide. Its leaves are slender, with elongated lobes. Leaves change from green to yellow, orange and red in the Fall. Best in part/dappled shade. Good for bonsai.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

SEED PRETREATMENT: Soak seeds for 24 hours. Mix seeds with moist soil 4x seed volume. Place in a plastic bag or container.
STRATIFICATION: First, start 120 days warm/moist (20°C), the top of your fridge is a good spot for this. Check periodically for mold. Next, 120 days cold/moist (5°C), in the fridge is a good spot for this. Check periodically for even moisture.
POST-STRATIFICATION: Sow stratified seeds 3/8” deep. Alternate soil temperature during the day (15-20°C) and night (10-15°C).
Water evenly and regularly until germination.
GERMINATION: When all previously mentioned requirements are fulfilled, germination generally occurs in 60-100 days.
