Cranberry Seeds, American High Bush Cranberry

(Viburnum trilobum)  Zones 2 - 7. Deciduous shrub.

High bush cranberry is a plant I remember from childhood. We had a big bush growing next to my mother's little cedar shingled greenhouse. She didn't know that they were edible so the berries were always left for the birds.

You CAN eat high bush cranberries, and they are actually sweeter than the true, low bush cranberries!

You can eat the berries fresh, cook with them or make preserves.

In the Spring, the bush is covered with showy, white ombrelles.
