Hops Vines - Cascade
(Humulus lupulus) Deciduous. Zones 4-8.
Cascade Hops is a very popular cultivar with commercial and craft breweries. Cascade adds a spicy floral quality with bright citrus elements and is moderately bitter and used most often to achieve the traditional Pale Ale flavour.
Hops is often overlooked as a landscaping plant, but it has so much to offer! Cascade is a fantastic solution if you’re looking for a dense, quick-growing vine to add some charm or bring some shade to your garden. It has beautiful, tear-shaped leaves, interesting cones, and incredibly fragrant flowers. Cascade Hops scales a trellis or pergola in no time, reaching 25 feet and beyond!
Cascade Hops prefers full sun or part shade and moist soil, but is easily grown in average well-drained soil and is resistant to disease and fungus. Hops vines can be pruned to the ground in the Fall - perennial roots send up new growth in Spring.
