Grape Vines, Green - Louise Swenson
(Vitis vinifera) Deciduous. Zones 4-7.
Swenson is an excellent quality Grape cultivar developed in Minnesota that is a perfect choice for shorter-season climate as it ripens earlier than most other cultivars, in early September.
Swenson grapes are high quality red table grapes, large and firm with a unique, sweet flavour and high sugar content. They are lovely in desserts and also make great white or rose wine.
On the vine, Swenson grapes may appear blue, red, or even green, depending on regional temperatures. Grapes develop more sugar when left on the vine until a frost. Swenson vines increase in vigor and productivity once they are well-established.
The Queen of fruits, the grape has a long history and has been harvested for medicinal and nutritional purposes since Neolithic times. They are known to improve heart health, prevent numerous disorders and ailments, and are high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Swenson Grape does best in full sun and prefers well-drained soil, but it is quite adaptable.
