Blackberry Plants - Chester
(Rubus Fruticosis 'Chester') Perennial. Zone 4. Thornless.
The Chester Blackberry has been impressing northern fruit growers for over 30 years.
This lovely thornless blackberry variety was bred to withstand the harsh Winters of the American Mid-West and continues to be one of the most cold hardy thornless blackberries available.
Berries are medium sized, very dark and very sweet. These highly productive plants will set fruit in their second year. They grow 3-4 feet in height.
** To regenerate your blackberry patch, and to keep it under control, cut down the canes that set fruit in the Fall. In late Winter, thin remaining canes to 4-5 canes per 2.5 square feet. We also recommend trimming/mowing the borders of the blackberry patch regularly to prevent unwanted runners.**
