Catmint  features small lavender flowers which are attractive to butterflies and bees. Great for perennial gardens and container gardening. The flowers are edible, aromatic, minty and refreshing!

Growth Habit: grows in a low, compact mound with 12” spiky stems and clusters of tubular flowers. Perennial in zones 4-8

Sun Requirements: Part shade to full sun 

Soil Preference: Average, moist, well-drained soil

When to Plant: Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last Spring frost OR direct seed outdoors in Spring 

How to Plant:  

Direct sow:  Sow seeds ¼” deep and cover only very lightly with soil. Seeds should germinate in 14-21 days. Thin young plants 1-2 feet apart.

Transplant:  Sow seeds ¼” deep and cover only very lightly with soil. Seeds should germinate in 14-21 days. Transplant young seedlings outside in Spring and space 1-2 feet apart. 

When / How to Harvest: Harvest foliage anytime; harvest flowers for 6 weeks from Spring into Summer. Cut plants back by half after flowering and you may be rewarded with some Fall blooms. 

Uses: The foliage and flowers of Catmint are lovely in fresh or dried arrangements. Leaves and flowers are edible and often used dried in tea.
