Jahns Prairie Gooseberry is a high yielding cultivar with few thorns and delicious fruit. Native to Red Deer River Valley, in Alberta, Jahns Prairie tolerates frost, is pest and disease resistant, and bears incredible, dark red dessert-quality fruit!
The medium to large berries of Jahns Prairie turn a dark pink-red colour when fully ripe. They are sweet and yummy for fresh eating, but also wonderful in desserts and jams.
Easy to grow, self-pollinating, and productive - Jahns Prairie is an excellent choice for edible landscaping. It bears fruit on 2-3 year old spurs and annual pruning will increase productivity and make for easier harvest. Jahns Prairie Gooseberry thrives in moist, heavy clay soil.
