Blueberry Plants, Low Bush Wild - Brunswick
(Vaccinium angustifolium) Deciduous. Zones 3-6.
Brunswick is a fabulous lowbush Wild Blueberry variety originally from Nova Scotia. It makes a dense groundcover if planted in groups, which is absolutely stunning when the plants turn a brilliant red-orange in Fall!
The small, deep purple berries of Brunswick Wild Blueberry are firm and intensely sweet, not to mention brimming with antioxidants - highbush blueberries simply don’t compare to these wild gems! The leaves are also very nutritious and can be steeped to make a medicinal tea.
Brunswick Wild Blueberry can withstand extremely cold winters. It grows exceptionally well in highly acidic, well-draining forest soil and makes for a low-maintenance, edible ground cover. Brunswick is self-fertile, but cross-pollination produces a larger crop of fruit.
