This beautiful, French heirloom carnation offers incredibly fragrant, soft pink to fuchsia doubled flowers. Lovely in a classic carnation bouquet or living in the garden. Flowers are edible and make delicate garnish for cakes, salads or summer beverages. Fragrance and flavour is that of clove, only to a milder degree.

Growth Habit: Upright growth to 2.5 feet height; clumping foliage, with strong, branching stems and frilly 2” double blooms. Tender Perennial in zones 6-8.

Soil Preference: Rich, sandy well-drained soil
When to Plant: Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last Spring frost.
How to Plant: Sow seeds indoors in flats or containers on the soil surface and lightly tamp them without covering them. Seeds should germinate in 14-21 days. Transplant young plants into larger containers when true leaves appear. Harden off seedlings before transplanting after all risk of frost is passed. Space plants 6” foot apart.
When to Harvest: Harvest flowers throughout Summer until frost
How to Harvest: Harvest clusters of flowers when 20% of blooms are open. This will prolong vase life.
Uses: Carnation is a classic cut flower with a long vase life. Flower petals are edible, with sweet and spicy taste of clove, and lovely as dessert or salad garnish.
