Witch Hazel, North American (Hamamelis virginiana) Deciduous. Zones 4-8. Witch Hazel is a lovely native tree, found mostly on the edges of forests, throughout Eastern North America.

Witch Hazel has a long history of use in dowsing, finding underground sources of water or earthly leylines. It is also a very strong medicinal plant whose astringency is helpful in drawing out toxins and for use as a styptic (something that will slow or stop bleeding.)

Witch Hazel stands at 15-20 feet when fully grown and uniquely flowers in the fall, with tiny yellow blooms.

*Germination of 60-80%* Witch Hazel seeds require a minimum of 60 days warm stratification, followed by 90 days of cold stratification to germinate.
